Why We Built This
We saw the gaps. We decided to close them.
Our founding team has spent careers implementing hospice pharmacy systems and working in health system administration. We know the workflows that break down under pressure. We know the workarounds that become permanent. We know what gets ignored in a vendor demo and what matters on day ninety.
What we kept seeing was a category that hadn't kept pace with the complexity of modern hospice operations, fragmented tools, legacy platforms with new interfaces, and vendors whose financial interests weren't aligned with the hospices they served. The right information wasn't reaching the right people at the right moment. And nobody was building to fix that.

When a clinician has coverage status, contract pricing, and formulary standing at the moment they prescribe, not in a separate report, not after a phone call, it changes what gets written. That moment is where MerlinRx is designed to operate.
Local pharmacy relationships matter.
Hospice patients deserve to be served by pharmacies they know, familiar staff, rapid access, and the kind of community trust that matters most at end of life. MerlinRx is built to support and strengthen those relationships, not route around them.
Transparency is non-negotiable.
We pass pharmacy contract rates directly to clients without markup. We establish baseline performance metrics before go-live and measure the same numbers after. And if the results aren't what we described, you can leave. Accountability isn't a sales pitch, it's how we operate.
The right path should be the easy path.
Software that requires extra steps to do the right thing gets worked around. MerlinRx is designed so that formulary-appropriate, cost-aware prescribing is also the fastest path through the workflow. Correct behavior and efficient behavior are the same thing.
Our Independence
We don't own pharmacies. We don't benefit when you spend more.
Several of the largest players in hospice pharmacy administration are subsidiaries of insurance conglomerates that also own pharmacy networks. Their financial interests and yours are not the same.
MerlinRx has no pharmacy ownership. No downstream revenue from drug spend. We pass pharmacy contract rates directly to clients without markup, every dollar your patients cost is a dollar you can see, at the rate we actually pay. Competitors that own their own pharmacies claim this level of transparency but leave questions like 'Is it the claim processor cost paid to themselves? Or is it the pharmacy's cost of acquisition?' This shifts the spread from the processor to the pharmacy.
We are also not a pharmacy benefit manager. PBM economics create incentives that don't serve hospice operators, rebate arrangements, spread pricing, formulary design driven by financial relationships rather than clinical appropriateness. None of that applies here. We are a technology and services platform, full stop. Our revenue comes from software, not from what happens inside the pharmacy transaction.
